I’m surprised by how much I really, really, like Scarlett Jo and Pete Yorn.

Also Happy Halloween.

Parades

I love parades, especially when they are full of fantastic trannies.  Took the lawyer and the little greyhound to the Gay Pride parade just outside our building.  I think my favorite part was a dude in Skivvies doing backflips and tumbles on the sidewalk…he was not part of the parade…but he really should have been.

I even got a few ideas for y’all for Christmas.

Orcas Island

I really wanted to do our trip back home to Washington justice.  So I’ll share lots of pictures over the next few weeks.  First, we took a short trip to the Orcas Island with some friends and scored loads of dungeness crab.  I know my southern buds love them some stone and blue crab, but nothing is better than fresh dungeness.  You may notice that I am not in any of these pictures, though I did help beat the crabs to death and enjoyed dining on their steamed little bodies.  Yeah it may sound barbaric but as someone pointed out, if you were laying on the bottom of the sea…a little crabby would certainly like to try you out for a snack.  Anyways,  as I said I am not in any of these pictures mostly because I am sure you are not interested in seeing what Diana Ross looks like crabbing.  The sea air left me in…well… a constant state of Super-fro, and trust me Super-fro should totally be capitalized in this instance.  It’s what the average person would look like if, say, a manic gremlin attacked.  That bad.  But man was the crab that good!

Movin’ on up

September 4, 2009 · 1 Comment

It’s been a busy month so I’ll just give a few updates.  We have legally separated from Tallahassee…dropped her like the redheaded stepchild she was…and have moved on to a sexier and considerably more fun lover…Orlando.  Though the move left us popping muscle relaxers like they were about to expire, and treating cuts and bruises in places we never thought could bruise, we survived.  Seriously, don’t move all by yourself…ever!  Heed my warning…when your husband asks you if you’d like to  help lift the dryer over your head…take a step back and assess if you look like Hercules, the moment you realize you do not, aggressively throw the yellow pages at his head.

The view, however, is so worth the sciatica.  I love the new place. I can’t get enough of it, walks with the little greyhound around the lake, wine around the corner, my own grocery cart, and the condo is just so sparkly.  I will admit that our building is well…how do I say this to make it as cringe worthy as it should be…it’s a bit of a sausage fest.  I may have spotted one or two lady residents but I have come to the conclusion that we kind of live in the city’s best bachelor pad.  So…you can just call me George Clooney.

Sweet home Seattle

August 3, 2009 · 1 Comment

We’re headed to the northwest and I am so excited I could break out into song.  I hope to see some mountain ranges, crabs, good friends and family, Ethiopian food on my plate daily, coffee, Green lake, a big cold Fat Tire, craftsman houses, and hippies….oh especially the hippies.

Swedish Sunday

It’s rare for me to get a Sunday off from work, but the stars aligned and here I am  drinking coffee, listening to some Joni and making Swedish pancakes.  With an added bonus of  fresh raspberries, blueberries, blackberries and turkey bacon.  I really love Sundays.

P. S. True Blood is on tonight and I can’t wait to glimpse that tall blond viking of a vampire Eric.  That Swedish actor is almost as delicious as my pancakes.

Danish dreamweaver

July 24, 2009 · 2 Comments

I wish this would come home to live with me in Orlando.

She is just so beautiful and so very Danish.  I could look at her all day.  You know that scene in “Wayne’s World” where Wayne sees his dream girl Cassandra singing “Fire” by Jimi Hendrix and suddenly everything disappears except the two of them, and then the “Dreamweaver”  montage begins…remember?  Well, that’s what happened when I laid eyes on this Danish teak credenza.

Call me Miss Thrifty

July 23, 2009 · 6 Comments

No really, I can actually find a good deal.  Although my husband thinks the word “sale” has been conveniently left out of my vocabulary.  Need I point out to him that I planned a pretty great wedding on a very tight budget.  Anyways, just had to share my thrifty summer finds…

ikat_dress

Like this pretty lil’ Ikat dress from The Loft.  $30 people!  Marked down from $69.

blazer1

Or this Gap linen blazer (in blue cause you know I’m crazy about blue) for $5.97, marked down from $59.99.   How freaking awesome is that price tag?

boots

Last but not least are J. Crew’s Nottingham Tall Leather flat boots, originally $298 but I could have them for $88.  There is a great  new store here in Tallahassee that buys J. Crew and Anthropologie catalog returns, and that’s where I found these sweet cognac colored beauties.  I do not actually own them yet but I am thinking seriously about adopting them.  Don’t they look like they need someone to love them and provide them a good home?
